Local, National Economies Topic Of 3rd County Summit

World-renowned economist Dr. M. Ray Perryman discussed topics of national, regional and local importance at the third annual Hill County Summit Thursday, April 25. (more)
 

DEPARTMENTS RESPOND TO COMMERCIAL FIRE

Fire departments throughout the area responded to a structure fire at Ameritube LLC in the 1000 block of US 77/North Waco Street in north Hillsboro just after 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27. According to Hillsboro Department of Public Safety (HDPS), local fire crews initially gained access to the interior of the building and discovered the main body of fire to be in the office portion of the plant. City, School Elections This Saturday

City and school board seats will be decided throughout the area Saturday, May 4, and voters in several school districts will decide school bond proposals.

Cities holding elections Saturday include Hillsboro, Whitney and Hubbard. School board positions are on the ballot in Whitney, Hubbard and Penelope. Those holding bond elections are Aquilla ISD, Penelope ISD, Bynum ISD and Milford ISD. (more)
 

Fallen Firefighters To Be Honored This Weekend

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) will host the 43rd National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year’s national tribute will honor 89 firefighters, including two from our area, who died in the line of duty in 2023 and 137 firefighters who died in previous years. (more)
